If you do a Google search of the title of this article, you’ll find millions of blogs and articles with advice for taking the stress out of this exceptionally busy time of year. Why are there so many publications focused on this topic? Because every year it seems to get harder and harder to fit everything in. So we check off the list and finish just in time to wake up exhausted after the holidays end, only to find we missed the joy of the season. This year, we want to encourage you to create a new checklist; to not let the demands overshadow the true meaning of the season. The following are the top 3 ways we’d like to encourage you in, to help you change your focus and possibly serve as questions or reminders that will throw up little red flag reminders, so that you can truly be less stressed this Christmas:
Focus on presence (a more welcomed gift), not presents. Time is often the best gift of all!
Invite someone in to help. Go ahead – bless someone with the ‘gift’ of serving.
Seek opportunities for pleasurable moments with people, not pleasing people.
We know this is easier said than done. But we want to encourage you to make this year’s holiday season one that strengthens faith and deepens your connection with the miracle of Christ’s birth. Here is a fantastic article we recommend for some additional, Biblical advice on making the most of this amazing time of year.
