A Prayer for Hospitality

Heavenly Father,

Most gracious and compassionate Creator of ALL things, One who transcends time and space, One who spoke the world into being, and One who maintains our very existence with power of Your Word, hear our prayer that we lay before your feet. Turn not your face from our presence, for we cannot live without you. You are the bread of life. You led your children through the wilderness away from captivity and sustained them with Manna from heaven. You gave them water from the Rock. Lord, you care for your people. You are hospitable beyond imagination to a frail and weak humanity. You see us Lord:

Psalm 103:13-14 As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.”

God, in our vulnerability as dust, you have shown us favor! Lord, because you first loved us, we love You above all; yet, Lord, we fall short of showing your love and generosity to others. Forgive us of this we pray! May we be your people who graciously open our homes to share with others. Let us remembers the truth as spoken by Your Son:

Luke 14:12-14 When you give a dinner or banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. But when you give a feat, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.

We eagerly await the resurrection of the saints where we will feast eternally at Your table, Lord. Knowing that no man knows of this time, save You alone, let us keep ready and be extensions of your generosity through hospitality to a lost and dying world. May our hands and feet stay busy for your Kingdom while we anticipate your glorious return!

In Him Whom we find our Yes and Our Amen,

Amen
